10 Reasons Why You Should Get CompTIA A+ Certified

How did I prepare?

The CompTIA A+ Core Series requires you to pass two exams: Core 1 (220–1001) and Core 2 (220–1002) I studied and passed each exam separately.

  1. Watched Professor Messer Training Course Videos on YouTube. Core 1 (220–1001) and Core 2 (220–1002)
  2. Added Professor Messer Study Notes to my iPad for review. Core 1 (220–1001) and Core 2 (220–1002)
  3. Watched Mike Myers Training Course Videos on Udemy. Core 1 (220–1001) and Core 2 (220–1002)
  4. Added the CompTIA A+ Certification Exam Objectives to my iPad to read.
  5. CompTIA A+ Complete Study Guide: Exam Core 1 220–1001 and Exam Core 2 220–1002 by Quentin Docter & Jon Buhagiar Book.
  6. CompTIA A+ Complete Practice Tests: Exam Core 1 220–1001 and Exam Core 2 220–1002 by Jeff Parker Book.
  7. Made flash cards of all the Acronyms from the CompTIA A+ Certification Exam Objectives and of all Network Ports.

About the exam

I took the exam at Pearson VUE test center at 3510 E. Tropicana Ave, Suite #O, Las Vegas, NV. It was a great test center and is centrally located in Las Vegas.

Tips

***Control your time***

I did the multiple choice first and performance based last. It is a timed exam. You can also flag the questions and come back to them later.

***Give yourself a deadline***

Schedule the exam ahead of time.
